I still don't know how to properly fold a fitted sheet, and really I don't care.  Nobody comes to my house to admire my sheet folding abilities.  Yes, I know there are youtube videos on how to do such things.  But this is not a survival technique.

TIME MANAGEMENT

Who struggles with this and who has other bad habits associated with this?  Like procrastination, which some define as being lazy.  There is some truth to the "lazy" term, because it is.  Time management?  What is it?  Why do some employers expect this skill?  Why should this be a normal practice for everyday living?

What is it:  Basically it is how one organizes & plans action.  For example, you have a busy weekend planned with "have to's" and "fun".  So prioritize, what is most important:
1-Oil Change  (30 min) or 9-9:30AM
2-Hair Cut  (45 min) or 10-10:45
3-1 Hour DIY class at Home Depot (30 min) or  11-11:45
3-Lunch w/MOM (1 hr) 12-1 or so
4-Afternoon with kids before sleep over at grandparents (3 hrs) 1-4
5-Movie and Dinner with Significant Other (Free evening) 4pm

So, with this, if one is not good at time remember this is habit forming and very productive once you do this.  So, along with time management is the word "TIME".  So how long do you schedule for each activity?

If your are single or no kids, try this:
1-wake up, have coffee, shower (2 hrs) 9-11 am
2-Vacuum/Mop/Wash Dishes put away (1 hr) 11-12
3-Grocery Shopping (2 hrs) 12-2
-Afternoon Free-

Because I procrastinate and have learned I work best under deadline pressure I have tried to slow my roll by buying a yearly planner for 12-18 months at at time (DO NOT TRUST YOUR PHONE TO DO THIS)  In doing this I have learned that being able to cross out an accomplished task is very gratifying.  Remember this is a schedule of your life, what makes up your life and what needs attention.  This is a great way to break a bad or "lazy habit" and create a new refreshed positive behavior.

Now, when it comes to a resume or skills on an application, Time Management is BIG!  It not only shows that you are an ADULT, but you are capable of organizing tasks and following through to completion no matter how big or small.
